The Coronavirus has done many things to the music industry, it has forced us to stop everything we were doing prior to the outbreak. Here is a list of just some of the ways the industry has been impacted:
- Music Festivals are Postponed or Cancelled
- Venues are Closing
- Tours are Cancelled
- Production (and other secondary music industries) Affected
- No More Freelance Work
- Supply Chain Interruptions
- Will the Industry become Virtual?
And while the media makes it seem like all hope is not lost, it is. There is no guaranteed end and when we begin again it is going to be very difficult to just pick up where we left off. It’s great that we have had some strong music come out over the summer and most of the quarantine but that is because the celebrities who released music had the outlets and the funds to support that. It is the independent artists and the indie labels who are going to be the ones who cannot recover from what has been lost.
